Galleys —proofs from the typesetter in page format, copies of which may be sent to important book reviewers.

Gang— to run related items (such as photos) together to economize on costs.

Genre —a category or specific kind of writing, such as historical, science fiction, or mystery.

Ghostwriter —a professional writer who produces books attributed to others.

GIF —Graphics Interchange Format. File format commonly used to display graphics and images in HTML documents on the Internet.

Glossary —a body of definitions relevant to the work. Part of the back matter.

Glossy —a photograph with a shiny rather than matte finish.

Grant —an outright gift of money to subsidize a specific project.

Graphics —the illustrative elements in a work.

Gutter —the inside center margin of a book.
